Invitation to Waterford Greenway Tourism Workshop

Venue: Park Hotel, Dungarvan

Timing: 9:30am – registration and coffee

9:45am Start

3.00pm (latest) ends

As you know, the new magnificent Waterford Greenway will officially open for public use later in the year. It will be a huge addition to Waterford’s tourism portfolio as well as being a significant addition to local recreational infrastructure.

It now behoves us all to ensure that Waterford gets maximum economic, community and social gain from its very substantial investment in this new tourism corridor through the heart of the County. Its branding and marketing to potential local, domestic and overseas users and visitors will be a critical piece of work over the coming months. We will have only one chance to make a marvelous first impression.

As part of this work, Waterford City and County Council and Fáilte Ireland are working together to look at the tourism opportunities ahead and, to this end, we’re inviting a small group of specially selected people to join us for a workshop to develop the Greenway Story. We’ll be looking at how the Waterford Greenway and the surrounding area can benefit from Fáilte Ireland’s investment in Ireland’s Ancient East – the latest market “proposition” that has its consumer launch next month and is already making an impact on the tourism world.

And we’ll be gathering facts, stories and anecdotes about the places and people along the Greenway, to provide Fáilte Ireland with material as well as informing the work which Waterford City and County Council will be doing along the route on interpretative signage and information boards.

So do please join us.  We would love your contribution to this important work. The workshop will be professionally facilitated by tourism consultants Blue Sail, who are working with Fáilte Ireland to develop stories across Ireland’s Ancient East.  It should be an interesting, informative, useful and enjoyable session for all involved.

Please RSVP to Bernadette Drohan at bdrohan@waterfordcouncil.ie  058-21169 by Thursday 7th April – letting us know if you have any special dietary or access requirements.

Head of Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office, Waterford City and County Council

P.S. Should you not be in a position to attend, I would appreciate if you would let me know if there was somebody else from your organisation who would like to contribute to the workshop or even if there was somebody else whom you would wish us to invite
